Cape Line Co. exists because we kept getting the same question from riders abroad — "who do I book with?" — and there was no good answer.

How we got here

The honest
origin story.

Cape Line Co. started with a question most serious riders in Europe eventually ask: "I want to do a proper Western Cape trip. Who do I book with?" The answer was usually a long list of operators, websites and forum threads, and forty hours of comparing them from the other side of the world.

The riding here is world class. The problem was never the trails or the local operators — several of them are excellent. The problem was knowing which one to trust for your group, your grade and your dates.

So we built the service we wanted: a trip agent based in Cape Town that plans and books with local partner operators. We don't run tours. We find the people who should run yours.

Our first season is November 2026 to April 2027. We're building the partner list for it now, and keeping it short on purpose — we'd rather work with a handful of operators we know well than list everyone.

Checked before we refer

Before we refer a rider, we ask the same things of every operator — permits, guiding qualifications, and a safety and emergency plan we can see. No pay-to-play listings.

Say the hard thing early

If a trip is wrong for your group, or a date is a bad idea, we tell you before you book, not after.

Reply within two working days

Dates are promises. You hear from a person within two working days, at every stage of the trip.

Own the outcome, not the handover

We book you with an operator, but we don't disappear. We stay your point of contact until you're back home.

Know what we recommend

Our team is based in Cape Town and knows these networks and the people who guide on them. We don't recommend trails or operators we don't know.

The best MTB trip in the Western Cape doesn't come from one company owning everything. It comes from matching the right rider to the strongest local operator in each valley.

Honest advice is the product

Anyone can list tours. The value is in knowing which one fits your group, and saying so plainly.

The rider network is the channel

Our first riders come from clubs, teams and people we've ridden with, not paid ads. Word of mouth only works if every trip delivers.

Price and terms in writing

You see the operator's price, deposit and cancellation terms before you commit. Nothing is agreed on a phone call alone.
